Constance Belle Mare Plage

Situated on 2km of East Coast beach, Constance Belle Mare Plage has long been a favourite of families, foodies and golfers visiting the island.


259 rooms and suites are all either sea-facing or beach front and have been given light, refreshed interiors. The Junior and Deluxe suites offer plenty of room, and interconnecting Prestige Rooms, Junior Suites and Prestige Room+Deluxe Suite provide good family options. The rooms are arranged in blocks of no more than 3 floors, in lush tropical gardens featuring four swimming pools.

We particularly like the 2 & 3 bedroom Pool Villas, situated at the Northern edge of the resort, which each offer a huge living space, a private pool, ‘Villa Master’ service and access to all the resort facilities. They are ideal and great value for friends or family to share, especially golfers. There’s also a 5 bedroom Presidential Villa available for larger families or groups.

Speaking of golf, this is arguably the best set up for the sport in the Indian Ocean. Two excellent (but different) courses in Legends & Links, with superb club houses, and great service: no need to touch your clubs unless you are playing, after which they are whisked away, cleaned and appear on your buggy the next day ready for your tee time… and green fees are complimentary for resort guests!

Other activities include tennis courts, volleyball, table tennis, mountain bikes and a wide range of complimentary and payable water sports, including scuba diving, plus on-demand experiences such as horse riding, bike tours and quad biking. The state-of-the-art fitness centre, with TechnoGym and Life Fitness Cardio, includes a number of complimentary group sessions on its weekly program, and if you need to relax after all of that, the Constance Spa offers sauna, steam room, massages, facials and body treatments in 10 single and double rooms. In the meantime, the Constance Kids Club will keep youngsters from 4 to 11 well occupied with a suite of programmes, games and imaginative themes.

Constance resorts pride themselves on gastronomy and Belle Mare Plage is no exception. Dining exudes quality in all of the 7 available restaurants, from the well-designed La Citronelle that belies its 350-seat capacity, to the signature Blue Penny Cellar serving fine dining in an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere, with a magnificent wine list. Special mention goes to the Deer Hunter restaurant, in the Legends course club house, that is worth a visit for non-golfers too.
