Filitheyo Island Resort Package

Filitheyo is highly recommended if you are looking for a medium-size, traditional-style resort with good diving and snorkelling.

Accommodation is simple, but there are good facilities, including a swimming pool, and excellent spa and a magical rustic bar at its focal point.



The dive centre is a highly professional operation, run by the renowned Werner Lau team. The lagoon is narrow on the north side with the reef edge close to the beach offering fantastic snorkelling without having to swim great distances.

There are 118 villas in total, all well equipped. The Superior Villas are semi-detached - 10 of them interconnect and are sold as Family Villas which can be cheaper than purchasing 2 villas (which one is forced to do in many other resorts). The detached Deluxe Villas are essentially the same as the Superiors but marginally bigger and include a bathtub. The Water Villas are detached and have their sundecks overlooking the lagoon.

The Deluxe Villas on the south side enjoy a nice wide stretch of beach equidistant between the pool and the reception buildings. The Superior Villas on the north side also enjoy a good beach although it is somewhat narrower. The east side of the island has no beach at all and very rocky. This means you cannot walk right around Filitheyo on the beach. The interior of the island enjoys thick vegetation with plenty of palm trees. The vegetation is fumigated weekly to control mosquitoes, insects, etc.

The Sunset Restaurant & Bar (and swimming pool) are located at the western tip of the island looking over to the water villas....an ideal place for a mid-morning coffee or a cocktail at dusk. An a-la-carte menu is offered in the evenings, on a chargeable basis, although we found the food in the buffet restaurant of a very high standard, well presented, varied and tasty.

In our opinion swimming in the sea is not the best because of the extensive quantity of coral in the lagoon. However, the swimming pool which overlooks the water villas offers some compensation.

We very much liked Filitheyo's rustic bar, and overall ambience, but the real star here is the reef!
