Thotalagala Hotel, Sri Lanka

Thotalagala is a restored nineteenth century tea planters' bungalow located high above the plains of southeast Sri Lanka. The hotel consists of just seven rooms, all sharing an infinity pool with breathtaking views overlooking the Haputale Escarpment.

Haputale itself is located in the heart of Sri Lanka's tea country, on the trail from the mountains down toward the southern coast. Guests can enjoy leisurely walks through the tea plantation and surrounding areas, or visit the Dambatenne Tea Factory and Lipton's Seat, located a short distance away.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided, served at a grand 20-seat table in the communal dining room. However, there are no set meal times and guests may choose to eat elsewhere. Both local and Western food are on offer, and all meals are catered to personal preferences along with allowances for dietary requirements.
