Dinarobin Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa

Occupying one of the most beautiful locations on Mauritius at the foot of (UNESCO World Heritage site) Le Morne Brabant Mountain and skirted with ranging sandy beaches, there has been guest accommodation on the site of Dinarobin since the very earliest days of Mauritian tourism. Beachcomber’s elegant 5-star property is a far cry from the rustic beach huts of the 1950s, now replaced with Villa and Suite-only luxury, and yet the setting remains undiminished.

Spacious suites are arranged in crescents, each surrounding a pool, and one of which (designated Zen suites) is adults only. Our pick is the huge first-floor Senior Suite Beachfront – space is an opulence all of its own – while there are 2-bedroom options for families. Villas are vast with private pools & direct beach access, and can accommodate larger families, but are hugely sought after and need to be booked well in advance.

Dining is a particular forte at Dinarobin and those who enjoy gastronomic variety will be in their element. Facilities, including restaurants are shared with sister resort Paradis, which means there are 8 to choose from. Main restaurant L’Harmonie offers a varied buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner, while Dina’s features local cuisine for dinner. The experience is taken up a notch or two at both Umami, the excellent Japanese outlet, and at La Ravanne, a romantic beach setting that is a must for dinner. Lazy lunches at the beachside Blue Marlin or La Plage are what lasting holiday memories are made of. There are also a number of bars to choose from, and our favourite is the ‘old-school’ Le Mahogany for impeccably served evening cocktails.

Facilities are extensive, with fitness centre, tennis and other activities on land plus a full range of water sports almost all of which are complimentary, a pleasant spa and complimentary kids club. Tucked between the resort and Le Morne mountain, an 18 hole golf course meanders through tropical gardens, with numerous holes skirting the turquoise lagoon and affording dramatic views, and perhaps the most picturesque driving range to be found anywhere on your travels. Beachcomber’s relationship with Mont Choisy Le Golf also facilitates access to a fine championship course in the North of the island and keen golfers will be rewarded for making the day trip.
