Silhouette

Despite being the third largest island in the Seychelles, Silhouette is one of the least developed. The island was first visited at the dawn of the seventeenth century by the East India Company though it was not inhabited until around 200 years later.

The majority of the island’s recent history is characterised by the Dauban family (who take the name of the country’s tallest mountain), the so-called ‘Rothschild of the Indian Ocean’ that owned Silhouette up until the 1960s. The restored Dauban plantation house is now the site of the Hilton Seychelles Labriz resort’s Creole speciality restaurant.
