Mafia Island

Mafia Island, south of Zanzibar, is the largest island in the Mafia archipelago. Because Mafia isn't a well known tourist destination, the island and perhaps more importantly, the dive sites are quiet and uncrowded.

The waters around Mafia are said to have one of the healthiest and diverse coral reef systems with warm waters and good visibility.

Diving takes place within the protected Marine Park, with the Chole Bay being one of the most popular spots. Because the waters, inland bays and lagoons are safe, all levels of divers and snorkelers alike can enjoy the some 400 species of fish that call these waters home.
