Our Opinion
Summary
Unguja Lodge is located at the southern end of Zanzibar in Kizimkazi. Kizimkazi consists of two different villages, Kizimkazi Dimbani to the north and Kizimkazi Mkunguni to the south. Unguja Lodge is situated in Kizimkazi Mkunguni where fishing and rope making are the main activities.

The Lodge has 10 private and spacious villas and 2 family houses. They are made out of coral stone and have makuti roofs woven from palm leaves. Inside the villas you will find traditional Zanzibarian features including a baraza and patio seats made from wood and rope. Accommodation is elevated from the beach on a rocky outcrop and access to the beach is down a set of wooden stairs.

The resort has one restaurant which serves all your meals and one bar serving all drinks including freshly made cocktails and smoothies and offers a selection of wines.

Breakfast
Hot items including eggs, pancakes, sausages, bacon etc. can be ordered with the waiters. All other items, bread, croissant, cereals, cheese, fresh fruit etc. are included as part of the buffet.

Lunch
Lunch is a la carte with different options every day.

Dinner
Dinner is a set menu with a choice of 2 starters (including a vegetarian option), 4 or 5 main dishes, usually including one with fish and/or seafood and with at least one vegetarian option. And finally a choice of 2 deserts with tea and coffee served afterwards.

In addition you can enjoy afternoon tea served at 4pm with snacks served at 6pm.

The resort also boasts a swimming pool and PADI dive centre.

The beach itself is tidal. At high tide the beach disappears entirely. At low tide the water retreats up to 70 metres from the cliff exposes the beach for guests to enjoy.
