Dhawa Ihuru Resort

Dhawa (formerly Angsana) Ihuru remains one of our most popular Maldivian properties, first and foremost for its outstanding house reef. The drop off encircles the island, ranging from just a few metres from the beach to no more than 50m, and wide, shallow channels enable the easiest of access through beautiful coral gardens teeming with marine life. This makes the reef ideal for beginners or nervous snorkellers, as you are never far from the shore, while those more experienced will marvel at what is on offer on your doorstep – we all agree it’s utterly addictive! The resort itself has undergone a partial makeover as part of the rebranding. Some of this is cosmetic, with soft refurbishment of the interiors adding a bright colour scheme, and even brighter colours in the public areas. Local artists have been commissioned to add marine-life inspired murals, but in some aspects the design language feels inconsistent, and possibly ‘style-over-substance’. The villas themselves remain comfortable and spacious, with great King-size beds and a welcome sitting area that can also be reconfigured to fit two extra adults. There are few rooms in the Maldives at this price level that can do so. We’d opt for the entry-level Beachfront Villas and save the upgrade cost for the Jet Pool or Rainmist.

The best new addition is an impressive modern gym, on the first floor above the dive centre. The small spa remains excellent and we recommend the treatments highly, although its footprint has been reduced to squeeze in an even smaller kids’ club.

Ihuru now offers two All Inclusive packages a standard "Dine" option or a "Premium" option which gives more dine around and beverage options plus daily resort credits for extras such as spa treatments and other benefits.
